Public art enhances the beauty of our Town and the visual experience for residents and visitors.
Wellesley is home to an active creative community of working artists, independently owned businesses, state environmental and cultural organizations, and dynamic Town government leaders that host events throughout the year and positively contribute to our shared physical and social environment.
The Public Art Committee (PAC), made up of representatives from local arts groups, works with Town officials to create opportunities for public art within Wellesley.
Traffic Box Art Program
The Traffic Box Art Program is a collaboration between the PAC and the Wellesley Police Department where local artists are selected to design and paint traffic signal boxes at high visibility intersections to enhance the visual experience in Wellesley.
The program began in late 2020. New artists are recruited throughout the years as more possible locations are identified. Read about this program.
